The Certificate IV in Interior Decoration provides a comprehensive foundation for those looking to begin their journey in interior design. This course covers essential aspects of interior decoration, including space planning, colour theory, design principles, materials and finishes, and styling.
Delivered over two study blocks, the course introduces professional tools and technology, such as Adobe Creative Suite and SketchUp, to help you craft inspiring and functional spaces that meet client briefs. You’ll learn to apply foundational design principles to create and present professional-grade interior concepts.

If you’ve completed relevant study, training, or have industry experience, you may be eligible for a shorter program duration through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) or Credit Transfer.
RPL allows us to determine if you’ve already achieved any learning outcomes of specific subjects in the Diploma of Interior Design. If sufficient evidence (i.e. academic transcripts, course outlines, references, and awards) confirms you meet the subject requirements, you may receive Credit for specific subjects or Units of Competency.

Previous units of study or qualifications must align with the current training package
Study or qualifications must have been completed within the past five years
Applications for RPL are submitted during your program application process
VET Credit Transfer is available if you’ve:
ISCD recognises units of study and qualifications completed within the past seven years for current training packages.

principles of design.

We focus on how to set up your own Interior Decorator design business from scratch and teach you the fundamentals of business, including branding, documentation, compliance and ethics. You will also learn the history behind interior design and how to apply this into your own practice.
