About ISCD
A FORTY YEAR HISTORY OF TEACHING THE NEXT GENERATION OF AUSTRALIA’S INTERIOR DESIGNERS
ISCD started back in 1983 as ‘The School of Colour and Design’ (iscd). Originally founded by Prudence Royle and Eva Fay; two of Australia’s Interior Design pioneers. These two inspirational women started ISCD as a small, part time business operating out of the Cammeray Community Centre on Sydney’s North Shore.
Between 1995 and 2009 Prudence Royle, as the then sole owner, opened several campuses across Sydney and the ‘international’ in ISCD was born (International School of Colour and Design), to better meet ISCD’s growing international reputation. Back then, ISCD even had The Spectrum Gallery, an area for public exhibitions and a first for the Australian Interior Design community.
During this era ISCD established a strong reputation at home and abroad for producing quality Interior Designers with a refined understanding and use of colour theory, and this reputation still holds in the industry today, with ISCD working closely with brands like Taubmans and Porters Original Paints to name a few.
In 2010 Prudence sold ISCD to the NextEd Group, well known for delivering education to students across the globe. Ahead of the pack again, ISCD online courses were born, so we could meet the demand of Interior Designers across the world wanting our specialist training in colour theory.
In recent years the use of design software and technology has become increasingly widespread in the industry. ISCD, ever the trailblazer, started to map out how to best train the next generation of Interior Designers to master designing beautiful contemporary spaces and the use of software tools simultaneously.
ISCD is focused on creating digital-savvy employable designers for the 21st century.
